Bubba Ghanoush was formed by sand and capitalism. An amalgamation of shifted ancient materials from the East, bleeding across geographic lines to meet relationally-recent Western forces, the meeting point shaped into something new and confusing. Her name derives from the combination of the American colloquial term "Bubba", "an uneducated conservative white male of the southern US", paired with the middle eastern dip, "Baba Ghanoush" Which she has always held an affinity for.
//Bubba is a London (and South East of England) based multidisciplinary Artist (Fine Art BA graduate of Chelsea College Of Arts, UAL). She has been recognised for exceptional artistic talent and creativity, with a strong foundation in fabrication, painting, and collaborative projects.
Bubba’s work explores the hard truths, comedy, and discomfort that arise from being a product of both Eastern and Western cultures. Through a fictionalized narrative firmly rooted in reality, Bubba navigates this hybrid identity—creating something fictional, yet deeply real. In doing so, Bubba battles the capitalist overlord that sits behind the running of modern society, exposing damning attitudes towards material, the natural environment, and the suppression of artists in a world driven by profit.
Her portfolio spans painting, MIG and spot welding, ceramics, woodworking, animation and film.
